Off-Road Recovery of 2 Different Vehicles in Pond Occur a Month Apart
Off-road recovery is one of the most intricate, complex parts of the heavy towing business. But how often is an off-road recovery needed? You’d be surprised to know that it happens more often than expected … and sometimes in the exact same location!
Johnson’s Wrecker Service assisted in an off-road recovery at a retention pond near the I-4 eastbound ramp to State Road 408 East, not once, but twice, and only about a month apart! The first recovery occurred in the afternoon of April 22, 2022 when the Johnson’s crew received a call regarding a submerged vehicle in the retention pond.
The off-road recovery team arrived at the scene and worked hard to remove the vehicle from the water. Thankfully, no occupants were inside the vehicle and Johnson’s Wrecker team along with the Orland Police Department were able to complete the recovery.
A little more than a month later, Johnson’s Wrecker returned to the same pond a little after 4 a.m. to recover another car that drove through a chainlink fence and landed in the water. Apparently, the driver of the vehicle was in a little too much of a rush to get to work, and ended up in the pond! Fortunately, the driver was able to exit the vehicle before it submerged under water.
For any magnet fishermen out there … something tells us you’ll be able to find something in this retention pond!
The Johnson’s Wrecker crew was extremely proud to assist the Orlando Police Department on both off-road recoveries. Congrats to the talented team! Keep up the great work!

Johnson’s Wrecker Service assisted in 2 different off-road recovery jobs that occurred about a month apart from each other. The off-road recovery crew assisted the Orlando Police Department on both occasions which took place in a retention pond near the I-4 eastbound ramp to State Road 408 East.
The first off-road recovery took place on April 22, 2022. The Johnson’s crew received at around 3 p.m. regarding a submerged vehicle in the pond. Upon arriving at the scene, the crew observed that there were no occupants in the vehicle and that it would be a job that required them to simply remove the vehicle from the water. The off-road recovery crew worked closely with the Orlando Police Department to recover the vehicle.
The second off-road recovery occurred about a month later on May 24, 2022. This call for off-road recovery came in in the early morning at around 4 a.m. The driver was in a rush to make it to work, and for some reason, he drove through the chain link fence and ended up in the retention pond. He was able to escape from the car before it submerged.
The Johnson’s off-road recovery team promptly arrived at the scene to find the Orlando Police Department along with a silver, four-door sedan submerged in the pond. The team blocked on lane of the ramp for the off-road recovery, and reopened it once the car was successfully towed
